Fill out/edit the Q&A section

The Q&A section helps to generate the correct requirements list for your technical file by asking targeted questions about your product. This ensures that only relevant requirements are included, while saving time and avoiding unnecessary complexity. Use it whenever you create or update a technical file.

Feature access

All roles can complete the Q&A section when creating or updating a technical file. Available for all ProductIP plans.

Before you begin 

Make sure you know the product’s intended markets and characteristics (e.g. technical specifications, packaging, inspection requirements, social compliance). This ensures accurate answers, and an accurate requirements list.

Steps

1. Create your technical file. 

2. After choosing the product category the Q&A wizard will be started.

3. For editing the Q&A, open your existing technical file.

4. Start the Q&A wizard in the Product tab by clicking Edit next to Q&A.

5. Answer product-specific questions.

   • Example: functionality, technical specifications, or technical details.

6. Complete additional questions:

   • Does the product have packaging?

   • Do you want to track inspection requirements in this file?

   • Do you want to track social compliance aspects of supply chain partners in this file?

7. Review the possible changes and click Agree & Save.

8. ProductIP generates a tailored requirements list for your product, which can be found in the Requirements tab.

Tips and best practices

• Answer carefully: wrong answers can add or remove important requirements.
• Only select relevant countries to avoid unnecessary compliance obligations.
• Click on Click here for more information under selected questions to access Compliance Clips with “Wikipedia-like” explanations.
• Keep documentation organised by enabling inspection and social compliance tracking when it is relevant for your business.

Troubleshooting 

• Too many requirements? 

Check if you accidentally selected extra countries.

• Missing requirements? 

Revisit product-specific questions and ensure all answers are complete.

• Unclear questions?

FAQ 

• Why can’t I select all countries?
  Selecting all countries may add unnecessary requirements. Always choose only the markets where you plan to sell your product.
