Add, remove or change product details in your technical file. Or group multiple products in one technical file to structure and manage similar products.

Before you begin
Ensure you have created a technical file.

Steps

  1. Open your Technical File in ProductIP.
  2. Navigate to the Product tab.
  3. Click on the edit/pencil symbol to edit product information. 
  4. Click on the Add product article button to add products variants. 
  5. Remove a product by clicking the delete/X symbol. This symbol will not appear at the default product, marked with a key symbol. Click on this button to make that product article the default and you can remove the other product.


Tips and best practices

  • Only products that meet all the following similarities can be added in one technical file:
    • Same supplier/ factory
    • Same manufacturing process
    • Same material
    • Same product category (list of requirements is the same)
    • Same market release date
  • Give products descriptive names that clearly reflect the product variants.
  • You can also manage product articles in batch via Excel import.


Troubleshooting

  • Need to ungroup product articles? 

Delete the product article(s) and create separate technical files. Or clone the technical file and remove the remaining product article(s).

FAQ

  • When can I group product articles in one technical file?
    When the supplier, factory, manufacturing process, material, product category and market release date is the same. 
  • I have different technical files for product articles that can actually be grouped together, what should I do?
    Go to your Technical file overview, select the related technical file and choose Merge files from the dropdown menu at the bottom of your screen. Click on Execute
  • Why can’t I delete an article?
    The default article can’t be deleted. Click on the key to make another article the default article and then you can delete the article.
