The Digital Product Passport (DPP) Selector lets you share one single link to all available Digital Product Passports for a product. Use it when you have multiple technical files for the same product and want your customer to select the correct passport themselves.
Feature access
Only users with the Administrator role can configure Digital Product Passports.
This feature is available for all ProductIP plans.
Before you begin
Before using the Digital Product Passport Selector, make sure that:
- Your technical files contain a published Digital Product Passport
- The product has an EAN code or article number stored on the packaging
- You know which identifier your customer will use to select the correct passport
Video instructions
A short step-by-step guide will follow soon!
Steps
Understand when to use the DPP Selector
Use the DPP Selector when:
- You have multiple technical files for one product
- Each technical file results in a different Digital Product Passport
- You do not want to share separate links for each passport
The selector shows all available Digital Product Passports for a product and lets the customer choose the correct one, for example based on a batch code printed on the product or packaging.
Build a DPP Selector link
1. Open Digital Product Passport under Regulatory settings.
2. Copy the DPP Selector base URL shown for your account.
3. Decide which identifier you want to use:
- EAN code
- Article number
4. Add the identifier at the end of the base URL:
- Use /ean/<EAN code> to search by EAN code.
- Use /artno/<article number> to search by article number.
Example URLs
Search by EAN code
<DPP Selector base URL>/ean/12345
This shows all available Digital Product Passports in your account for products with EAN code 12345.
Search by article number
<DPP Selector base URL>/artno/12345
This shows all available Digital Product Passports in your account for products with article number 12345.
Tips and best practices
- Make sure the EAN code or article number is an exact match with the data in the technical file.
- Use the DPP Selector link on packaging, manuals, or websites to avoid sharing multiple links.
- Keep article numbers consistent across technical files to ensure correct results.
Troubleshooting
- No Digital Product Passports are shown
Check that the Digital Product Passport is published and that the EAN code or article number matches exactly.
- The link does not work
Verify that the account ID in the base URL is complete and unchanged. This ID is unique and required.
- My customer sees the wrong passports
Make sure the correct identifier is stored on the article in each technical file.

FAQ
- Can I use both EAN code and article number?
Yes. You can create different selector links depending on which identifier your customer uses.
- Do I need to update the selector link when I add a new technical file?
No. New Digital Product Passports are automatically included if they match the EAN code or article number.
