Adding a task helps you assign actions, set deadlines, and request documents from suppliers. It keeps responsibilities clear and ensures progress is traceable within the technical file.
Feature access
All users with access to the technical file can add tasks. This feature is available for all plans.
Before you begin
- Open the technical file you want to update.
- Select the Timeline tab.

Steps
1. Click Add task at the top of the timeline.
2. Enter a clear task description in the Tasks field.
3. Set a Deadline if needed.
4. Choose who will follow up on the task.
5. Select one or more supplier contacts to assign the task.
6. Click New contact if the supplier contact is not yet listed and enter their details.
7. (Optional) Select Allow contact(s) to upload documents if you want the supplier to upload documents.
8. Add any extra information in the Additional information field.
9. (Optional) Upload a file in the Document field.
10. Click Save to add the task to the timeline.
After saving, the task appears under Open activities.
Use the buttons on the right of the activity to edit, delete, close, or move the task to history.
Tips and best practices
- Keep the task description short and actionable so the recipient knows exactly what to do.
- Use deadlines to keep progress moving and avoid delays.
- Allow document uploads only when necessary to keep supplier communication focused.
- Add additional information to clarify requirements or expectations.
Troubleshooting
- I cannot assign a task to a supplier.
Check if the supplier has accepted the Document Request, only then can suppliers receive tasks.
- A required contact is not listed.
Click New contact and add their details.
- The task is not visible in the timeline.
Make sure the Tasks filter is checked and refresh the page.

Yes, assigned supplier contacts receive an email notification with the task details.
- Can suppliers upload documents for a task?
Yes, if you select Allow contact(s) to upload documents when creating the task.
